DetourLite.runtimeconfig.json — required beside the portable DetourLite.dll
The portable module detour/DetourLite is a framework-dependent .NET 8 application. The .NET host
refuses to start such an application unless its runtime configuration file sits next to the DLL,
with exactly this name. Without it, dotnet DetourLite.dll fails before any Detour code runs:
A fatal error was encountered. The library 'libhostpolicy.so' required to execute the
application was not found in '<your directory>'.
Failed to run as a self-contained app.
- The application was run as a self-contained app because
'<your directory>/DetourLite.runtimeconfig.json' was not found.
On Windows the same failure reads hostpolicy.dll instead.

dotnet DetourLite.dll
It is the build's own 340-byte file — it pins net8.0 and Microsoft.NETCore.App 8.0.0
(roll-forward picks up the 8.0.x actually installed). Do not hand-edit it.
You do not need this file if …
- you run the Windows single file
DetourLite.exe, or - you run a Linux native executable (
detour/DetourLite-linux-x64,detour/DetourLite-linux-arm64).
Both carry their runtime configuration inside the executable. DetourLite.deps.json is not
required: every managed dependency is embedded in DetourLite.dll itself.
Native dependencies are still separate: keep libOpenCvSharpExtern.so (Linux, matching
uname -m) or OpenCvSharpExtern.dll (Windows) from this catalog in the same directory.
Verified
Ubuntu 22.04.5 x86_64, .NET 8.0.31. The published detour/DetourLite bytes
(SHA-256 04414B68…969C83) failed exactly as quoted above with only the DLL present; after adding
this file and libOpenCvSharpExtern.so from the catalog, DetourLite reached Startup complete
with the real detour.json and mainmap.2dlm (25 keyframes) and served /api/agent/status.
